Purpose

The R20 was designed around one idea: deliver clean, balanced sound even when you sit right next to the speakers. Edifier carried out a dedicated near-field acoustic tune, adjusting key parameters such as the driver specification, internal cabinet volume, the curve of the front panel, the Bass Reflex resonance frequency and the elevation angle. The result is clear audio that stays accurate at a short listening distance.

The narrow 8 cm frame fits into a tight nook or onto a busy table without claiming valuable space. Because the Bass Reflex port sits on the front, there is no need to leave a gap behind the units to get full low frequencies - a genuine advantage on desks pushed against a wall.

Capabilities

Each unit is driven by a dedicated 2.75-inch (about 70 mm) driver that produces noticeable bass, while its centre structure is shaped to reinforce the mid and high range for a detail-rich sound. The pair is rated at 5W, matched to the loudness expected at a personal desk position.
