Drive Cage iStarUSA 5.25"x2 to 3.5"x3 SAS/SATA 6.0 Hot Swap Cage black BPN-DE230SS-BLACK

iStarUSA 5.25"x2 to 3.5"x3 SAS/SATA 6.0 Hot Swap Cage Black

The iStarUSA BPN-DE230SS is the company's third-generation trayless hot-swap drive cage. It fits two adjacent 5.25-inch bays in a PC or server chassis and turns them into three bays for 3.5-inch SATA I/II/III or SAS I/II drives at up to 6Gb/s. You insert the drive straight into the bay and close the handle, with no tray and no screws.

The all-aluminum body has grooves for heat dissipation, and a rear 70 mm fan with a speed switch cools the drives. The handles lock with a metal key, and LEDs show power and drive activity. With a separate RAID controller you can build a RAID array. This version has black handles.

Key features

• 3 drives in two 5.25-inch bays - Three bays for 3.5-inch hard drives, including 12TB drives. A 2.5-inch drive fits with the RP-HDD2535-SI converter, sold separately.
• Trayless hot-swap - Pull the lever, slide the drive in and close the handle until it clicks, and the drive is connected to the backplane. Drives can be swapped without shutting down the system.
• SATA and SAS up to 6Gb/s - Supports SATA I/II/III and SAS I/II (primary channel) drives. Each bay has its own 7-pin SATA data connector on the back of the cage.
• Quiet cooling - Aluminum body with heat-dissipation grooves and a 70 mm fan with a High/Low speed switch on the rear. The fan cover is removable for easy cleaning.
• Locks and indicators - Aluminum front bezel and handles with metal key locks prevent unauthorized drive removal. A blue LED shows power and a purple LED blinks on drive access, and a rear switch turns the activity LEDs off.
• RAID ready - Use each drive individually or build a RAID array with an additional RAID controller.
