Adapter Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter MMEL2ZM/A Color:white

Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter

The Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter lets you connect Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 devices, such as external drives and docks, to the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) or USB 4 ports of a new Mac. This way existing equipment keeps working after the move to a new MacBook or iMac.

The adapter is bidirectional: it also connects new Thunderbolt 3 devices to a Mac with a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 port running macOS Sierra or later. It also supports Thunderbolt displays such as the Apple Thunderbolt Display and LG Thunderbolt 2 displays.

Key features

• Older Thunderbolt gear on a new Mac - External drives, RAID arrays and docks with Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 connect to the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) or USB 4 port of the Mac.
• Data transfer speed - Up to 10Gbps with Thunderbolt devices and up to 20Gbps with Thunderbolt 2 devices.
• Bidirectional adapter - Also connects Thunderbolt 3 devices to a Mac with a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 port, provided the Mac runs macOS Sierra or later and the device has its own power.
• Thunderbolt display support - Connect an Apple Thunderbolt Display or LG Thunderbolt 2 displays. The Apple Thunderbolt Display needs a separate power source for the Mac, as it does not charge through the adapter.
• Good to know - The adapter does not support DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort displays (such as the Apple LED Cinema Display) and does not work with USB-C ports without Thunderbolt 3.
