St-Lab IU-100 USB to RS-422/485 Adapter

The St-Lab IU-100 is a USB 2.0 to single-port RS-422/485 serial adapter for connecting a desktop or notebook computer to controllers, industrial equipment and automation systems. It is based on the FTDI FT232RL chipset, known for stable drivers and wide operating system support, and provides serial communication at up to 1Mbps.

The adapter automatically detects whether the line runs RS-422 or RS-485 and switches accordingly, and a DIP switch can force RS-422 mode. The metal case supports wall mounting, all signal pins are protected against ESD up to 15kV, and LEDs show transmit and receive activity.

• RS-422 and RS-485 in one adapter - Automatic detection and switching between RS-422 (full duplex) and RS-485 (half duplex), plus a DIP switch to force RS-422 (4-wire RS-485) mode.
• FTDI FT232RL chipset - Drivers for Windows, Windows Server, macOS and Windows CE. Linux kernel 2.6.31 and later supports it natively without a driver.
• 15kV ESD protection - ±15kV protection on all signal pins against static discharge and electrical transients on the lines.
• 120 ohm termination - Internal jumpers enable 120 ohm termination resistors on the TX and RX lines to avoid impedance mismatch in multi-drop networks. They are open by factory default.
• Wall-mount metal case - A rugged metal case with wall-mount support, suited to industrial environments.
• Activity LEDs - A green LED blinks on received data (RX) and a yellow LED on sent data (TX) for quick diagnostics.
