IPPON Mini PCI-E To RS232 x2 Adapter Expansion Card

The IPPON IPIO-109 is a Mini PCI Express card that adds two RS232 serial ports to a POS terminal, an industrial PC or an embedded system. The ports use DB9 male connectors attached to the card by cables, and the card is built on 16C950 UART controllers with a 128-byte FIFO for transmit and receive.

Each port can be set by jumper to carry either the RI line or 5V or 12V power, to run POS devices that draw power from the serial port. A power cable that connects to the computer's power supply is included for this.

• Two RS232 ports - Two 16C950 UART channels on DB9 male connectors at up to 230 Kbps. The controller is backward compatible with the 16C550, 16C650, 16C750 and 16C850.
• Deep FIFO - A 128-byte FIFO for each transmitter and receiver, with 128 transmit and 128 receive interrupt thresholds and 128 flow control thresholds.
• Power for POS devices - A jumper selects 5V or 12V power on the DB9 connector, and an individual jumper on each port selects RI or power. The included power cable takes the voltage from the computer's power supply.
• Mini PCI Express interface - A 1-lane 2.5Gbps PCI Express host interface, compliant with PCI Express Specification revision 1.0a, on a 30 x 50 mm card.
• Operating system support - Supports 32-bit and 64-bit Windows and Linux. The card is RoHS compliant.
