The Fractal Design Define 7 XL is a large, full-tower enclosure in black, built around a dual-layout interior that can be reshaped to fit different needs. It targets massive builds, supporting motherboards up to E-ATX and SSI-EEB along with unusually generous storage options. Its footprint measures 240 mm wide, 566 mm tall and 604 mm deep.

Cooling

The case delivers strong cooling capacity with a total of up to nine 140 mm or eleven 120 mm fan mounts, and three Dynamic X2 GP-14 fans come preinstalled. Switching to the Open Layout frees extra headroom for large water-cooling, with radiators up to 480 mm in the front or top and 280 mm in the base. Two 5.25" ODD bays can be converted into an additional front fan mount with a filtered louver cover.

Easy-to-clean, high-airflow nylon filters give full PSU coverage and convenient front access, keeping the air drawn into the system clean.

Fan & acoustics

An ultra-slim Nexus+ 2 fan hub connects up to three PWM fans and six 3-pin fans, letting you manage the cooling array tidily from a single central point. The sturdy new HDD cage design uses vibration-damped trays that help cut down resonance noise from drives while they work.

Compatibility & install

The dual-layout interior accepts large boards up to E-ATX and SSI-EEB, and in the Storage Layout it can hold up to 18 HDD/SSDs plus five SSDs using the trays and brackets included in the box. A detachable PSU cable shield and integrated cable guides with Velcro straps simplify routing behind the board. Thirteen pass-through holes, ten of them fitted with rubber grommets, allow clean cable runs regardless of board size. The front carries a USB Type-C port of the USB 3.1 Gen 2 kind with fast-charging support and speeds up to 10Gbps.
