LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-16i RAID Controller

The LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-16i is a RAID controller with 16 internal SATA+SAS ports that connects up to 16 drives inside the server, directly or through passive backplanes. With SAS expanders it scales to 128 devices.

The controller is built around an LSI SAS 2108 RAID-on-Chip with an 800MHz PowerPC core, carries 512MB of DDR2 cache and connects to the server over PCI Express 2.0 x8. It supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 6 and the spanned levels 10, 50 and 60.

• 16 ports at 6Gb/s - Four internal Mini-SAS connectors (SFF-8087) provide 16 SATA+SAS ports at up to 6Gb/s each, backward compatible with 3Gb/s drives.
• Dedicated RAID processor - The LSI SAS 2108 RAID-on-Chip with an 800MHz PowerPC core and an LSI SAS 2x36 expander handle the RAID work and offload the server CPU.
• 512MB cache - 800MHz DDR2 cache memory improves read and write performance. An optional LSIiBBU07 battery backup unit can be added.
• RAID levels and data protection - RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10, 50, 60, online capacity expansion and RAID level migration, global and dedicated hot spares and automatic rebuild.
• Up to 128 drives - Through SAS expanders the controller supports up to 128 SAS or SATA drives and up to 64 logical drives.
• Easy management - The MegaRAID Management Suite includes MegaRAID Storage Manager, MegaCLI and WebBIOS for local or network configuration and monitoring.
