| Revew | Creative Sound BlasterX G5 External USB Sound CardThe Creative Sound BlasterX G5 is a pocket-sized external sound card that connects over USB and works as both a DAC and a headphone amplifier. It is built around the multi-core SB-Axx1 audio processor, a Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC with 120dB SNR and a Texas Instruments TPA6120A2 amplifier, and plays audio at up to 24-bit / 192kHz. The G5 accepts 7.1 signals and delivers them to headphones as virtual surround, so it is easy to tell where footsteps and gunfire are coming from in games. It works with Windows and Mac computers, with PS4 over USB and with Xbox One through the optical input.
Key features- 7.1 virtual surround - 7.1 signal support and processing in BlasterX Acoustic Engine Pro deliver effects and accurate positioning to regular stereo headphones.
- Audiophile-grade headphone amp - A Texas Instruments TPA6120A2 amplifier with a low 2.2 ohm output impedance drives headphones of up to 600 ohms as well as sensitive in-ear monitors.
- SB-Axx1 processor and profiles - Dedicated SBX and Scout Mode buttons trigger hardware processing, and up to three audio profiles can be stored on the G5 and switched with a button.
- Wide connectivity - Combined line/optical input and output, a 4-pole headset jack, a dedicated mic jack and an extra 100mA USB port for a mouse or keyboard.
- Console ready - Connects to PS4 over USB and to Xbox One through the optical input. Voice chat is not supported on Xbox One.
