Internal Hard Drive Western Digital Purple Surveillance WD23PURZ 3.5" 2TB

Western Digital Purple WD23PURZ 2TB Internal Hard Drive

The WD23PURZ is a 2TB internal hard drive from the Western Digital WD Purple Surveillance series, designed for video recording in security systems. It comes in the 3.5-inch format with a SATA 6Gb/s interface, a 5400 RPM class spindle speed and a 256MB cache. The 2TB figure is the manufacturer's nominal capacity in decimal units; operating systems usually display a smaller value because they count in binary units.

The series is rated for a workload of up to 180 TB per year and includes AllFrame technology, which helps reduce dropped frames and interruptions in recordings. The drive uses CMR recording technology.

The drive suits continuous 24/7 recording in NVR and DVR systems, at home, in businesses and in surveillance setups, and is not intended as an ordinary workstation drive. The drive connects with a SATA data cable and a standard SATA power connector, and it can be installed in any computer or enclosure with a 3.5-inch bay. The SATA 6Gb/s interface is backward compatible with older SATA connections. Before installing it in a NAS or server, check the system manufacturer's compatibility list and back up any existing data.
