The Western Digital WD Red Plus WD80EFPX is an 8TB internal 3.5-inch hard drive with a SATA 6Gb/s interface, designed for NAS systems. It uses CMR recording, spins at 5,640 RPM and has a 256MB cache.

It is aimed at home users, small offices and small to medium businesses running RAID-based NAS systems with up to 8 bays. The drive is built for continuous 24x7 operation and is rated for a workload of up to 180TB per year.

Western Digital's NASware technology tunes the drive parameters to NAS workloads, and dual-plane balance control reduces vibration and noise in multi-drive systems. The drive suits capacity upgrades, new RAID arrays or replacing an existing NAS drive.
