Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC555 12TB Internal Hard Drive

The Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC555 (WUH722012CLE6L4) is a 12TB 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s hard drive for servers and data centers. It uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR) with ePMR technology, spins at 7200RPM and sustains transfer rates of up to 269MB/s.

The sealed enclosure is filled with helium (HelioSeal) for low power use, and Rotational Vibration Safeguard maintains performance in high-vibration chassis. The drive is rated for 24x7 operation with 2.5 million hours MTBF. This model uses 512e format, is the Base (SE) version without encryption and has a legacy Pin 3 configuration (no Power Disable).

Key features

• 12TB at 7200RPM - Sustained transfer rate up to 269MB/s, 512MB cache and 4.16ms average latency.
• CMR and ePMR - Conventional recording for consistent performance, with ePMR and a Triple-Stage Micro Actuator for high density.
• HelioSeal helium - A sealed, helium-filled enclosure enables low power consumption and stable operation.
• Data center reliability - 2.5 million hours MTBF, 600,000 load/unload cycles and a non-recoverable error rate of 1 in 10^15 bits read.
• Vibration protection - Rotational Vibration Safeguard with dual sensors and Dynamic Fly Height for busy server chassis.
