Internal Hard Drive Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC580 24TB WUH722424ALE6L4 3.5" 24TB

Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC580 24TB Internal Hard Drive

The Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC580 24TB is a 3.5-inch data center and server hard drive with a SATA 6Gb/s interface. It is built on a 10-platter CMR platform with HelioSeal helium sealing, energy-assisted magnetic recording (EAMR), a triple-stage actuator (TSA) and OptiNAND technology.

The WUH722424ALE6L4 is the Base (SE) 512e model without encryption. It spins at 7200RPM with a 512MB cache, delivers sustained transfer rates up to 298MB/s and is rated for workloads up to 550TB per year.

Key features

• 24TB with CMR - Ten platters at 2.4TB per disk with conventional magnetic recording (CMR), for more storage in the same chassis footprint.
• OptiNAND and ArmorCache - An embedded iNAND device protects metadata and cached data in a sudden power loss, and ArmorCache improves performance even with write cache disabled.
• Performance - 7200RPM, 512MB cache, sustained transfer up to 298MB/s and 212 IOPS in 4KB random reads.
• Data center reliability - 2.5 million hours MTBF (projected), 0.35% annualized failure rate, 600,000 load/unload cycles and 24x7 operation.
• Low power - 5.5W idle and 8.4W operating, about 0.23W per TB at idle, thanks to helium and the recording technologies.
