Micron 7400 PRO 7.68TB U.3 Enterprise SSD

The Micron 7400 PRO is an enterprise SSD for servers and data centers, built for mainstream workloads such as databases, virtualization, VDI and cloud storage. This 7.68TB model comes in a 2.5-inch U.3 enclosure only 7 mm thick, with a PCIe Gen4 x4 interface and the NVMe 1.4 protocol.

The PRO version targets read-intensive use and is rated for about one full drive write per day (1 DWPD). The drive includes power-loss protection and data path protection, supports up to 128 namespaces and also fits existing U.2 bays. This is the non-self-encrypting (Non-SED) version.

Key features

• PCIe Gen4 performance for servers - Sequential reads of up to 6,600MB/s, sequential writes of up to 4,100MB/s on the 7 mm version and up to 917,000 random read IOPS. Typical latency is 75 microseconds for reads and 15 microseconds for writes.
• Slim U.3 that also fits U.2 - The 7 mm, 2.5-inch enclosure saves space in the server, and the drive works in existing U.2 bays. Hot-plug support makes maintenance easier.
• Data protection - Power-loss protection completes in-flight writes when power is cut. End-to-end data path protection and RAIN help protect against bit errors and flash media failures.
• Hardware-level security - A dedicated secure execution environment, Secure Boot and public-key authenticated firmware updates help prevent unauthorized firmware from running.
• Flexible for virtual environments - Up to 128 namespaces, 512- or 4096-byte sector sizes and in-band and out-of-band (NVMe-MI) management let you split the drive between different services and virtual machines.
• Endurance for read-heavy workloads - The PRO version is rated at 1 DWPD, with up to 14,016TB written for 4KB random workloads. Mean time to failure (MTTF) is 2 million hours.
