The Samsung 990 PRO with Heatsink is the 990 PRO with a slim built-in heatsink, delivering performance close to the limit of PCIe 4.0: sequential reads of up to 7,450MB/s and writes of up to 6,900MB/s. It combines a Samsung in-house controller, Samsung V-NAND 3-bit MLC and a 1GB LPDDR4 cache.

The heatsink spreads heat and prevents performance drops under long loads, and the thin design fits PlayStation 5, desktops and laptops that meet the PCI-SIG D8 standard. Samsung Magician software lets you monitor the drive, migrate data and update firmware.

• Improved power efficiency - According to Samsung, the 990 PRO delivers up to 50% better performance per watt than the 980 PRO. Average power draw is 5.4W, and up to 50mW at idle.
• Samsung components - A Samsung in-house controller, V-NAND 3-bit MLC and a 1GB LPDDR4 cache, with an MTBF of 1.5 million hours and an endurance of 600TB written (TBW).
• Built-in encryption - AES 256-bit hardware encryption (Class 0) with TCG/Opal and IEEE1667 encrypted drive support.
• Samsung Magician software - A management tool for migrating data to the new drive, tracking drive health and getting firmware updates.
