Terramaster D4-320 4-Bay DAS Enclosure

The TerraMaster D4-320 is an external direct-attached storage (DAS) enclosure with four drive bays. It connects to a computer over USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C at up to 10Gbps. It suits storage expansion for desktop or laptop PCs, backups and media libraries, and it can also serve as an expansion unit for TerraMaster NAS servers.

Each drive appears on the computer as a separate disk (Single Disk mode, no RAID), so drives of different sizes and types can be mixed and swapped while the enclosure is running. With four SSDs it reaches read speeds of up to 1,016MB/s and write speeds of up to 960MB/s.

Key features

• 10Gbps USB-C connection - The USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface doubles the speed of a 5Gbps USB link and plugs directly into most desktop and laptop computers, including those with Thunderbolt.
• Four drives, up to 128TB - The enclosure takes 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA drives (HDD and SSD) with a raw capacity of up to 128TB (4 x 32TB).
• Tool-free installation and swapping - Trays with a push-lock mechanism let you insert and remove drives without screws, and hot swapping lets you replace a drive without powering the enclosure off.
• Quiet, smart cooling - A 120 mm fan adjusts its speed to the drive temperature, and the noise level is low (21.0dB(A)).
• Smart sleep mode - The enclosure goes to sleep together with the computer, which reduces drive running time and power consumption.
• Wide compatibility, no drivers - Works with Windows, macOS and Linux as plug and play, with no drivers to install.
