Thecus NAS W5000

The Thecus W5000 is a 5-bay storage server running Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials, made for small businesses that want to manage files, users and backup in a Windows environment. It is regarded as the Windows version of the Linux-based Thecus N5550 NAS.

It is built around a dual-core Intel Atom D2550 processor and 2GB of DDR3 memory. The operating system sits on a 500GB hybrid SSHD, so all five bays are free for data drives. Drives are not included.

Key features

• Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials - A familiar Windows environment for managing users, permissions and file sharing in a small business.

• Networking and connections - Two Gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port.
