Luggar Optical Power Meter and Wire Tracker Tester

The Luggar Optical Power Meter and Wire Tracker Tester is built for testing, mapping and tracing network and fiber optic cables, and is aimed at installers and cabling engineers. The transmitter finds cable faults, measures length, tests PoE, flashes the switch port the cable is connected to (Port Flash) and checks the crimp quality of an RJ45 plug.

Alongside copper testing it has an optical power meter for 6 wavelengths and a 10mW visual fault locator (VFL) for finding faults in fibers. The receiver traces cables up to 300 m in digital or analog mode, and both units charge over USB Type-C.

Key features

• Network cable testing - RJ45 wire mapping, fault detection and length measurement: accuracy of ±1.6 m up to 20 m, ±2.4 m from 20 to 100 m and ±3.2 m above 100 m.
• PoE and Port Flash - Detects standard and non-standard PoE, the powering method (end connection, middle jumper or 8-core powering) and measures voltage. Port Flash identifies full or half duplex, auto-negotiation and 10/100/1000M speeds.
• Optical power meter and VFL - Measures power at 850, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550 and 1625 nm, and a 10mW visual fault locator helps find faults in optical fibers.
• Two cable tracing modes - The receiver works in digital or analog mode at 455KHz with adjustable sensitivity, a range of up to 300 m, a non-contact voltage (NCV) detector and a built-in lamp.
• Crimp quality test - Checks the crimp quality of an 8-core RJ45 plug, with a minimum cable length of 10 cm.
• Rechargeable batteries - The transmitter and the receiver each use a 3.7V 1500mAh lithium polymer battery charged over USB Type-C, with a low voltage warning. The transmitter has 60V voltage protection.
