The Intel Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X710-T4 is a network card with four 10GBASE-T ports over standard copper cabling. It suits servers and workstations that need several 10GbE connections without moving to fiber infrastructure.

Auto-negotiation between 100Mbps, 1GbE and 10GbE keeps it compatible with existing switches. The card is based on the Intel XL710 controller, includes SR-IOV and VMDq for virtualization and supports DPDK and offloads for virtual networks.

Key features

• Four RJ45 ports - 10GBASE-T reaches 55 m on CAT6 cable and 100 m on CAT6A, while 1000BASE-T and 100BASE-T reach 100 m on CAT5e, CAT6 or CAT6A.
• Backward compatibility - Auto-negotiation between 100Mbps, 1GbE and 10GbE makes a gradual move from an existing 1GbE network to 10GbE easier.
• PCIe 3.0 x8 interface - An 8 GT/s link with eight lanes. The card is low profile and measures 167 by 69 mm.
• Hardware virtualization - SR-IOV with up to 128 virtual functions per device (64 per port), VMDq for 256 virtual machines and offloads for VxLAN, GENEVE, NVGRE, MPLS and VxLAN-GPE with NSH.
• Packet processing performance - Intel Ethernet Flow Director and Dynamic Device Personalization together with DPDK improve packet processing in cloud and NFV workloads.
• Power and airflow - At 10GbE the typical power is 24.69W and the maximum 28.95W, so it is important to provide enough airflow inside the chassis.
