The Intel Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X710-DA2 is a server and workstation network card with two SFP+ ports and the Intel Ethernet Controller X710. It runs at 10GbE over Direct Attach cables and at 1 or 10GbE with optical transceivers, and plugs into a PCIe 3.0 x8 slot.

The card offers Intel virtualization features such as VMDq and SR-IOV, offloads for VXLAN, NVGRE and Geneve overlay networks, and iSCSI and NFS support. Part number X710DA2BLK is the retail bulk version of the same adapter.

Key features

• Two SFP+ ports - Two SFP+ cages accept Direct Attach copper cables up to 10 m and 10GBASE-SR or 10GBASE-LR optical transceivers, for up to 10Gbps per port.
• PCIe 3.0 x8 - A PCI Express 3.0 x8 (8 GT/s) interface gives both ports full bandwidth. The card is low profile, and Intel lists support for both low-profile and full-height brackets.
• Server virtualization - VMDq sorts traffic per virtual machine, and SR-IOV provides up to 64 virtual functions per port on the dual-port card. Flexible Port Partitioning is also supported.
• Overlay network offloads - Hardware offloads for VXLAN, NVGRE and Geneve, together with Intel Ethernet Flow Director, spread traffic across CPU cores and reduce CPU load.
• LAN and storage on one wire - iSCSI, NFS and SMB support, iSCSI and PXE remote boot, and Data Center Bridging to separate traffic classes.
• Low power - According to Intel, typical power is 3.3W with Direct Attach cables and 4.3W with 10GBASE-SR optics, with Energy Efficient Ethernet support.
