StarTech USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter US1GC30DB

The StarTech.com US1GC30DB is a small dongle-style network adapter that adds a Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port to a laptop, tablet or desktop computer through a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port. It uses the USB 3.0 (USB 3.1 Gen 1) 5Gbps interface, so the wired connection gets full Gigabit bandwidth.

The adapter is based on the Realtek RTL8153 chipset with native driver support in Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS, which makes setup easy. It supports jumbo frames, VLAN tagging and Wake on LAN, is powered from the USB port and weighs only 9 g, so it is easy to take anywhere.

Key features

• Gigabit Ethernet over USB-C - One RJ-45 port at 10/100/1000Mbps with auto-negotiation, Auto MDIX and full duplex.
• USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 3 compatible - A USB-C connector with a USB 3.0 (5Gbps) interface that also works in Thunderbolt 3 ports, for example on MacBook Pro, Microsoft Surface and HP EliteBook.
• Driverless setup - The Realtek RTL8153 chipset has native driver support in Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS: plug in the adapter and start working.
• Advanced network features - Jumbo frames up to 9K, VLAN tagging, Wake on LAN and IPv4/IPv6 checksum offloading. Jumbo frames are not supported in macOS.
• Small and light - A black plastic body of 51 x 20.2 x 13 mm weighing 9 g, cableless, with power and activity LEDs. The adapter is powered from the USB port.
• StarTech Connectivity Tools - The manufacturer's software suite includes a MAC Address Pass-Through utility for network security and a Wi-Fi Auto Switch utility that moves the computer to the faster wired connection.
