IPPON PCIe5.0 x16 to 2xU.2 (SFF-8639) + MCIO x8 Expansion Card

The IPPON CST-PUM03 is an expansion card for workstations and servers that uses a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot to connect U.2 NVMe drives. The card carries two U.2 (SFF-8639) connectors for two drives directly, plus an MCIO x8 port for two more U.2 drives over a cable, for a total of four drives.

It complies with the PCI Express Base Specification 5.0 at 32 GT/s, is backward compatible with PCIe 4.0 and 3.0, and supports booting the operating system from an NVMe drive. For the system to detect all drives, PCIe bifurcation must be set to x4x4x4x4 in the motherboard BIOS.

• Up to four U.2 drives - Two drives connect directly to the U.2 connectors on the card, and two more connect over an MCIO x8 cable to the card's port.
• PCIe 5.0 at 32 GT/s - The card complies with the PCI Express Base Specification 5.0 and is backward compatible with PCIe 4.0 and 3.0, so it also works in older motherboards.
• NVMe and boot support - The card supports NVM Express SSDs and lets a connected drive serve as the system boot drive.
• BIOS bifurcation - The x16 slot must be set to x4x4x4x4 bifurcation in the motherboard BIOS. Without this setting only one drive is detected.
• Operating systems and temperature - Supports Windows 8.1, 10 and 11, Windows Server 2019 and Linux kernel 5.11 or later. Operating temperature range: -40°C to 85°C.
