The Gigabyte B840M GAMING X WiFi6E is a Micro ATX board on the B840 chipset, built for gaming systems on the AM5 platform with Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 series processors. It comes equipped with four-slot DDR5 memory, fast wired networking and advanced wireless connectivity.

Platform & chipset

The board is based on the AMD AM5 socket and the B840 chipset, supporting Ryzen processors from the 7000, 8000 and 9000 generations. Its digital 8+2+2 phase power design is meant to hold steady under sustained load, while X3D Turbo Mode aims to unlock current-generation performance.

Memory & expansion

Four DIMM slots support dual-channel DDR5 with AMD EXPO profiles, and the manufacturer notes very high frequencies can be reached through tuning. Storage uses two M.2 slots, including a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface for a fast NVMe drive. The PCIe slot features the screwless EZ-Latch Plus quick-release, and the M.2 slot uses EZ-Latch for easy removal.

Power, cooling & connectivity

Cooling leans on VRM Thermal Armor Advanced and an M.2 Thermal Guard for improved heat spreading. Wired networking runs at 2.5GbE LAN alongside Wi-Fi 6E, with the WIFI EZ-Plug design for simple antenna installation. Connectivity includes USB 2.0, USB 3.2 and USB Type-C, together with an HDMI output and two DisplayPort outputs.
