D-Link DFL-860E UTM Firewall

The D-Link DFL-860E from the NetDefend series is a Unified Threat Management (UTM) firewall that protects an office network against viruses, intrusions and harmful content. It combines a firewall, an intrusion prevention system (IPS), gateway antivirus and web content filtering with a hardware VPN engine for connecting branch offices and remote workers.

The unit has 2 WAN ports for load balancing and Internet failover, a configurable DMZ port and 8 LAN ports, all Gigabit Ethernet. It comes in a 13-inch rack-mount chassis with an internal power supply.

Key features

• Integrated UTM protection - IPS, real-time antivirus and web content filtering work together to inspect traffic up to Layer 7. Signature updates for IPS, antivirus and content filtering are delivered through a NetDefend UTM subscription purchased separately.
• Stream-based antivirus - Files are scanned as the traffic passes through, without caching and with no file size limit, including VPN tunnels and compressed files. Virus signatures are supplied by Kaspersky.
• Hardware-accelerated VPN - IPSec, PPTP and L2TP in client and server mode, DES, 3DES, AES, Twofish, Blowfish and CAST-128 encryption, hub-and-spoke topology and IPSec NAT Traversal. VPN throughput reaches 60Mbps.
• Dual WAN - Outbound load balancing across Internet links with round-robin, weight-based, destination-based and spill-over algorithms, plus automatic failover to the second link.
• Bandwidth and policy control - Policy-based traffic shaping with guaranteed, maximum and priority bandwidth, up to 1,000 policies and up to 16 IEEE 802.1Q VLANs.
• ZoneDefense with D-Link switches - Together with D-Link xStack switches, ZoneDefense automatically quarantines infected workstations and keeps them from flooding the internal network.
