The Hitachi Travelstar 80GN IC25N040ATMR04-0 is a 2.5-inch, 9.5 mm laptop hard drive with 40GB on a single platter. Our unit is the IBM version with IBM P/N 92P6592 and FRU P/N 13N6705, supplied as a spare part for IBM ThinkPad laptops.

This drive uses the parallel ATA/IDE (PATA) interface, not SATA. It suits replacing a failed drive in an older laptop with an IDE connector, restoring an IBM ThinkPad of that period to original condition, and repair labs. Before buying, make sure the laptop uses a 2.5-inch IDE drive. The drive is used and has been tested in our lab.

It spins at 4200 RPM, has a 2MB buffer and an Ultra DMA mode 5 interface at 100MB/s. A fluid dynamic bearing motor, GMR heads and load/unload technology keep it quiet and give it 200G operating shock resistance.
