| Revew | CPU Cooler Noctua NH-U12SThe Noctua NH-U12S is a 120mm single tower air cooler from Noctua's long-running NH-U12 series. The heatsink uses 5 copper heatpipes of 6mm, 50 soldered aluminium fins and a copper base, all nickel plated, topped by a 120mm NF-F12 PWM fan with automatic speed control. This unit is surplus stock, new in an opened box. It suits anyone building a desktop PC who wants quiet, dependable cooling for an Intel or AMD processor without compatibility trade-offs: at 158mm tall it fits most mid tower cases, and at 125mm wide it stays clear of the top PCIe slot on most ATX and Micro-ATX motherboards. With only 45mm fin depth the cooler does not overhang the RAM slots even with two fans, so memory with tall heatspreaders is no problem. The package includes the SecuFirm2 mounting system, NT-H1 thermal compound, a Low-Noise Adaptor and clips for a second fan. 
Key features- 100% RAM compatibility - With only 45mm fin depth, the NH-U12S does not overhang the RAM slots even with two fans installed, leaving full access to modules with tall heatspreaders. On some AMD boards that violate the 96x114mm keep-out zone, RAM up to 40mm tall should be used.
- Classic 120mm tower size - Standing 158mm tall, the cooler fits most modern mid tower cases, and at 125mm wide including fan and clips it stays clear of the top PCIe slot on most standard ATX and Micro-ATX motherboards.
- NF-F12 Focused Flow fan - The Focused Flow frame with eleven stator guide vanes straightens and focuses the airflow for 2.61 mm H2O static pressure. Varying Angular Distance and Vortex-Control Notches spread the noise over a wider frequency range for a more pleasant sound.
- PWM and Low-Noise Adaptor - The fan supports PWM for automatic speed control by the motherboard up to 1500 RPM at only 22.4 dB(A) maximum. The supplied L.N.A. lowers the maximum speed to 1200 RPM for even quieter operation.
- SecuFirm2 mounting system - The spring-loaded mounting with backplate gives precise contact pressure and supports Intel LGA1851, LGA1700, LGA1200, LGA115x and AMD AM5 and AM4. Per Noctua the same parts will also serve LGA1954. LGA1700/LGA1851 parts are included in units made since 2022 (blue NM-IPS3 spacers in the Intel bag); older units can use the NM-i17xx-MP78 kit.
- Ready for a second fan - Extra fan clips and thicker anti-vibration pads that offset the rear fan by 5mm are included, so a second NF-F12 can be added in push/pull mode for more performance at low noise.
- NT-H1 and soldered heatpipes - Five 6mm copper heatpipes are soldered to 50 aluminium fins and carry heat away from a 38x40mm copper base. The award-winning NT-H1 thermal compound provides low thermal resistance and easy application.
