| Revew | Microsoft Windows Server 2025 Standard 16 Cores OEM DVDWindows Server 2025 Standard is Microsoft's latest server edition for physical servers and lightly virtualized environments. It brings a Windows 11 style desktop, security improvements for Active Directory and SMB, SMB over QUIC in every edition, optimized NVMe storage performance and GPU partitioning in Hyper-V. This is the 64-bit English OEM version on DVD (1pk DSP OEI) with a license for 16 cores, the minimum required per server. It allows the operating system to run on the physical server plus 2 virtual machines. Every user or device that accesses the server needs a Windows Server Client Access License (CAL), sold separately. 
Key features- 16 cores and 2 virtual machines - Licensing is per physical core, with a minimum of 8 cores per processor and 16 cores per server. Standard edition allows 2 virtual machines or Hyper-V isolated containers plus one Hyper-V host per license, and unlimited Windows containers.
- Stronger security - Credential Guard is enabled by default on supported hardware, SMB signing is required for all outbound connections, an SMB authentication rate limiter slows brute-force attacks, and LDAP supports TLS 1.3 with encryption on by default in new Active Directory deployments.
- SMB over QUIC - SMB over QUIC, previously available only in Azure Edition, is now included in Standard. It provides encrypted, low-latency access to file servers over the internet without a VPN.
- Hyper-V and GPU partitioning - GPU partitioning shares one physical GPU between several virtual machines, and in Standard edition it is designed for standalone servers with live migration between them. Generation 2 VMs support up to 240TB of memory and 2,048 virtual processors.
- Modern desktop and NVMe performance - The desktop and Task Manager follow the Windows 11 style, Bluetooth devices such as mice, keyboards and headsets can be connected, and NVMe storage is optimized for more IOPS and lower CPU use.
- Hybrid management with Azure Arc - The Azure Arc setup wizard connects the server to Azure for management, and Hotpatch, offered as a paid service through Azure Arc, installs security updates without a restart.
