Western Digital WUH722020CLE6L4 Internal Hard Drive

The Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC555 (model WUH722020CLE6L4) is a 20TB 3.5-inch hard drive for servers, storage systems and data centers running 24/7. It uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR) with ePMR technology, spins at 7200RPM, and has a 512MB cache and a sustained transfer rate of up to 285MB/s.

The drive is helium-filled with HelioSeal technology for low power consumption, and is rated for an MTBF of 2.5 million hours and a workload of up to 550TB per year. This is the Base (SE) model with a SATA 6Gb/s interface, 512e format and a legacy pin 3 configuration (no Power Disable).

Key features

• 20TB with CMR - High capacity in a standard 3.5-inch form factor, with conventional magnetic recording that integrates easily into existing systems.
• 7200RPM performance - A sustained transfer rate of up to 285MB/s, a 512MB cache, 4.16ms average latency and Native Command Queuing support.
• HelioSeal helium and low power - A sealed helium-filled interior: about 6.4W operating and 5.3W idle, 0.27W per TB at idle.
• Reliability for 24/7 use - 2.5 million hours MTBF, 0.35% AFR, a workload of up to 550TB per year and 600,000 load/unload cycles.
• Vibration protection - Rotational Vibration Safeguard (RVS) with dual sensors, a Triple-Stage Micro Actuator and Dynamic Fly Height for stable operation in multi-drive enclosures.
• 512e with 4Kn option - The drive ships in 512e format and can be converted to 4Kn with the WDCKIT utility. Base (SE) model without encryption, with Sanitize Overwrite.
